Midface lift

A midface lift is ideal for individuals showing signs of aging in the midface area, such as sagging cheeks, deep nasolabial folds, and a tired appearance. It is suitable for those seeking a minimally invasive solution for midface rejuvenation without the use of fillers. Ideally, candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations regarding the outcome of the procedure.

With this procedure, sagging cheeks can be lifted and restored to a more youthful position. Deep nasolabial folds are also reduced, creating a smoother and more harmonious appearance. The midface lift contributes to a fresher and more youthful look in the midface area.

Recovery after a midface lift varies from person to person but typically takes about 2–3 weeks. Swelling and bruising may occur during the first few days after the procedure, but these gradually subside. Most patients are able to resume social activities after around 2 weeks, although some minor limitations may still persist.

Temporary swelling and bruising may occur and typically resolve within a few weeks. Some patients may also experience temporary numbness or altered sensation in the face, which usually subsides within a few weeks.

Because the incisions are minimal and placed in the hair-bearing scalp, the procedure leaves no visible scars.

The effect becomes visible after approximately 3–6 months and is long-lasting. However, natural skin aging continues, so depending on the patient’s metabolism and skincare routine, a follow-up treatment may be required after a few years.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so most patients experience little to no pain during treatment. After the procedure, pain medication is provided to manage any discomfort. This is generally mild and subsides over time. While individual pain perception may vary, most patients report that it is well tolerated.

An endoscopic midface lift can be performed as a standalone procedure. Depending on the findings, it may be advisable to combine it with other procedures, such as lower eyelid surgery, a facelift or a brow lift, in order to harmonise the different areas of the face. Whether such a combination is medically and aesthetically appropriate always depends on the individual’s initial condition.

The aim of the procedure is to naturally reposition the sagging tissue in the midface. This can make the face appear fresher and smoother, without individual areas looking ‘tightened’ in isolation. However, how natural the result appears depends on the patient’s initial anatomy, the surgical technique used and the individual healing process.

There is no fixed minimum age. However, an endoscopic midface lift is generally considered for patients in their late 30s to early 50s, when initial or advanced volume loss and sagging of the midface structures become visible. The decisive factor is not biological age, but the individual condition of the midface as it ages.
