From the age of 30, many of us notice the first subtle signs of skin aging. The skin loses elasticity, becomes drier, and the first fine lines appear. But why does this happen, and what can we do to slow down or even reverse this process?
"The skin's aging process begins earlier than many expect, often as early as age 25," explains Dr. Ugurlu . "But with the right measures, we can improve skin quality in the long term and visibly slow down the signs of aging."
Why does skin aging begin so early?
Skin aging is a complex process influenced by various factors. From around the age of 25, the production of collagen and elastin – both essential building blocks for smooth and elastic skin – slows down. This leads to the skin losing its resilience to environmental influences and becoming less firm.
In addition, genetic factors, exposure to UV radiation, and a stressful or unhealthy lifestyle play a role in skin aging. "It's not just age itself, but also our lifestyle that influences the aging process," says Dr. Ugurlu.
What can you do about it yourself?
There are simple yet effective everyday measures that can help slow down skin aging. "A consistent skincare routine and a healthy lifestyle can make all the difference," emphasizes Dr. Ugurlu. Good sun protection is crucial, as UV rays break down collagen in the skin, thus promoting wrinkles and age spots. A balanced diet rich in antioxidants supports skin cells, while adequate hydration ensures the necessary moisture. "I also recommend regularly using high-quality skincare products with ingredients like retinol or vitamin C, which stimulate cell renewal and firm the skin."
Why I'm no longer so convinced by hyaluronic acid as an anti-aging treatment
“Hyaluronic acid is good for immediate effects, but it should be used sparingly,” says Dr. Ugurlu. “Too much of it can make the face look unnatural and puffy, like a pancake face.” While hyaluronic acid provides immediate volume and visible results, if it is used too often or in too large quantities, the face loses its natural contours.
“That’s why I prefer regenerative treatments that offer subtle and long-lasting results,” he adds. “They promote the natural production of collagen and elastin, thus ensuring a result that preserves the natural appearance of the face.”
Regenerative treatments for skin rejuvenation
At my practice, LIVION, we offer various treatments aimed at stimulating the skin's own regenerative processes. Here are some of the most effective methods I recommend to my patients:
Sculptra® – The collagen booster
Sculptra® is a biostimulating injectable therapy that stimulates collagen production in the skin. Unlike traditional fillers that create immediate volume, Sculptra® works deep within the skin, resulting in a natural restoration of lost volume over several weeks. This makes it an ideal treatment for achieving a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
“With Sculptra® , we can gently restore lost volume without altering natural facial contours,” emphasizes Dr. Ugurlu. “It stimulates collagen production, delivering lasting and natural results.”
How does Sculptra® work?
The active ingredient poly-L-lactic acid is injected under the skin, where it stimulates collagen production. The results are subtle but long-lasting – usually up to two years.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) – The power of your own blood
PRP therapy , often also known as "Vampire Facial," uses the patient's own blood to obtain a highly concentrated plasma solution. This solution is rich in growth factors and regenerative cells that help the skin renew itself and form new collagen fibers.
“PRP is one of the most natural methods to rejuvenate the skin,” explains Dr. Ugurlu. “We use the patient’s own blood to strengthen the skin from within.”
The process: After blood is drawn, the plasma is processed by centrifugation and then injected into the skin. This method not only promotes skin rejuvenation but also improves skin tone and texture.
Polynucleotides – cell regeneration for firmer skin
Polynucleotides are an innovative active ingredient in anti-aging medicine, specifically used to promote cell regeneration and improve skin structure. These natural components, which consist of DNA building blocks, help to regenerate the skin from within, increase moisture, and improve elasticity.
Polynucleotides are an excellent option for patients seeking gentle yet effective skin rejuvenation,” explains Dr. Ugurlu. “They support regeneration and give the skin a fresh, firm appearance without overfilling the face.” By stimulating cell repair, polynucleotides help reduce skin damage and strengthen the skin structure in the long term.
Rejuvenation from within – the holistic perspective
Beautiful, firm skin doesn't just start with external treatments, but also with internal care. In my practice, we therefore focus on innovative infusion therapies that work from the inside out.
Power infusion with NAD+
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a naturally occurring coenzyme that plays a central role in energy metabolism and cell regeneration. NAD+ infusion therapy can promote cell repair, increase energy production, and improve overall well-being. Patients often report a more radiant complexion and increased vitality.
“For many of my patients, the NAD+ infusion is like an energy boost,” says Dr. Ugurlu. “It not only provides vitality but also promotes skin health from within.”
LIVION Infusion with Hair & Collagen Booster
This special infusion combines essential vitamins, amino acids, and nutrients specifically designed to promote healthy hair growth and strengthen collagen production. Especially from the age of 30 onwards, it's beneficial to work from within to maintain skin elasticity and hair volume.
An individualized treatment plan is crucial.
Every skin is unique, and therefore every treatment should be tailored to individual needs. "Every skin is different, and that's why we develop an individual treatment plan for each patient in our practice," concludes Dr. Ugurlu. "Our goal is to achieve natural results that enhance our patients' beauty."
Conclusion
The signs of skin aging from the age of 30 onwards are a natural process, but one we don't have to accept helplessly. With a healthy lifestyle and a consistent skincare routine, combined with modern, regenerative treatments, we can effectively support the skin from the inside out and slow down the aging process. The goal is to preserve natural beauty and strengthen the skin's structure.
